Fantastic, first-printing of this scarce, visually generous book that takes a deep look into the photographic work and world of Man Ray, who was one of the most significant contributors to the Dada and Surrealist movements, and to modern art in general. Countless well and lesser-known photographs are presented across the pages of this volume, including his photographs from his years in New York, Paris and Hollywood (amongst the many portraits of key figures of Surrealism and Dada, like Meret Oppenheim, Marcel Duchamp, Max Ernst and Frances Picabia, his beautiful and experimental studio portraiture of Janet Werner, Lee Miller and many others is presented here). Man Ray was a renowned fashion and portrait photographer. Man Ray is also noted for his work with photograms, which he called “rayographs, and many other experimental processes he brought into the photographic studio. This book expands on his archives of object photography and much more rarely or never before published works.
